How To Drop Old States Forever And Embody New Ones With Ease
This Will Actually Make A Difference For You
Changing states is the name of this game. Everybody knows it, and yet, (almost) everybody struggles with it. People will tell you you're just not trying hard enough to change, or that you need to do more SATS and visualization until you accept your new state as true, but when you have a totally clear understanding of the process, zero effort is required. Quite literally, changing states is an effortless process. Not low effort -- effortless. So let's solve our state problems once and for all.
I want to start with a question: What does it mean to be in a "state of mind" or "state of consciousness?" When you write to me and tell me you feel stuck in your old "state" despite all the SATS you've been doing, or you ask "I understand how to allow up my feelings, but when it comes time to release the underlying belief, I'm not sure what I actually need to do," what are you communicating? We take for granted that it's obvious what a state is, but it's a totally valid question.
Elsewhere in my writing*,* we've discussed the fact that states are compositions; They're made up of a mix of thoughts, feelings, sensations, and perceptions. So when we say we're "stuck" in a state, what we really mean is that we're stuck in a pattern of experiencing certain sensations, perceptions, and feelings, as well as having certain thoughts. Put another way, we fall into a cycle of experiencing the same sensations, perceptions, feelings, and thoughts over and over and over again.
Great. So how do we stop the cycle?
In general, I've made it incredibly clear that I feel facing and letting go or "releasing" old states is an essential part of a successful manifestation practice, and there's a reason for that. When we allow negative feelings up without resisting them we're granted access to a deeper level of our consciousness; it's what many call the subconscious, but essentially, is the level of mind at which your limiting beliefs "exist."
Normally, your negative emotions keep you away from this layer of consciousness. They're intentionally uncomfortable because their job is to ward you off; to stop you from facing certain ideas or beliefs. But, if you don't fight back against your negative emotional defense mechanisms, and you just allow them to express themselves fully, eventually you'll pass right through them and arrive at your limiting belief.
Why does this matter though? What do you gain from addressing the underlying belief that's been limiting you? Or, as many people ask me, what do you "do" when you identify it?
Well, you don't do anything. Because there's nothing to do.
When you stop resisting your emotions and slip down deeper to the level of belief/knowing, what is revealed to be the monstrous root of all your pain and suffering? What is it that's led to all your torturous emotions -- your shame, your grief, your fear, your anger? What is left of your state when you go past all the emotions, sensations, and perceptions?
A thought.
That's all it is. A single little thought. A wisp. A string of words passing through consciousness. Really, it's the Wizard of Oz: As you set out on your journey toward the changing of beliefs, you're met with madness. The Wicked Witch of negative emotions makes your belief out to be so big and bad. You're assured that the wizard is so powerful. Then you arrive and pull back the curtain to find the Wizard is just some guy. You get below all your terrible feelings and intrusive ideations and you find a measly little thought.
At this point, you've released. Part of the problem people encounter with this process is that they keep waiting for something to "happen." It's like they pull back the curtain on the wizard, but never actually process the man sitting behind it. They spin around immediately and say to me: "Okay, now I've reached the big, bad, mighty, powerful wizard how do I stop him from destroying me!"
How do you stop the Wizard from destroying you? I don't know, maybe turn around and see him for what he really is. See that he's not big and bad at all. He has no power to destroy you.
Your negative emotions keep the Wizard's secret from being revealed. They pump him up to be way more than he really is. And your resistance to these negative emotions is what perpetuates the cycle. Every time you resist a bad feeling, you're letting that bad feeling do what it's designed to do: It's warding you off the yellow brick road. The second you stop letting them though, you get back on track. You continue onward toward Oz. And if continue to remain non-resistant (if you don't turn back off the path) eventually you get to the city (the subconscious) and you see what the Wizard (your limiting belief) really is. A completely powerless little thing. And you just drop it. You say, "Oh, I thought the Wizard was big and powerful, but now I've pulled back the curtain and I see clear as day that he isn't. I thought my belief was scary and dangerous, but now I see that it's just a little thought."
As for embodying a new state? There couldn't be anything easier at this point. The wicked witch of negative emotion is dead, and you've seen the wizard for what he really is. The old belief doesn't have any power over you anymore, so you can literally do SATS a single time and you'll remain in your desired state from there on. You've wiped the slate clean, so to speak, and can now move forward.
As always, good luck.
